A Beginners Guide To Vaping
How do I know what nicotine strength to get? What mg should I choose, I smoke at least 1 pack of cigarettes a day. These are all types of questions I would like to address, as they are the most common we get asked on a daily basis.
When starting out you have so many options, it can be confusing and there's a lot of information out there.
Personally myself, using a starter pen I would suggest starting off by using a 12mg e-liquid as a base starting point. This will allow you to figure out how much you draw on the device, and if you will require going up in strength or possibly down.
Another option is to go with the new pod systems, they use nicotine salts which is relatively new. Nicotine salts provide a much smoother delivery intake which means a higher nicotine dose can be used as it will be less harsh on the throat.
Because of the higher dose of nicotine you probably would not use it as much as a traditional vape device or the sub-ohm kits, and saving battery life is always a plus.
When choosing e-liquid strengths, really it all comes down to how many cigarettes a day you smoke and what strength the cigarettes are.
If your a heavy smoker, who enjoys a throat hit then I would go with a higher nicotine level like the 18mg bottles of e-liquid with the traditional starter kits, and if your a heavy smoker and only smoke light cigarettes, then the new nicotine salts could be ideal for you. Although usually, I would suggest going with a high VG liquid and a lower strength such as a 3mg.
When you have your new starter vape kit, have read the instructions, and placed a fresh coil (usually provided with the kit) in the tank.and are ready to prime your first coil. I would suggest filling your tank up to the top, and waiting until the e-liquid drops down to about two-thirds of the way down, this is going to take around ten minutes.
Using a pod system e-liquid cartridge, there will be a strip to pull off and mix the e-liquid with the cotton, again I would wait around ten minutes after installing the cartridge to be safe and ensure the cotton has soaked up all the liquid.
The reason for this so-called priming of the coil, is to make sure your coil lasts longer and does not burn out quickly, this will also provide a much better flavour during delivery.
Finding your settings
When starting out I cannot stress this enough, starting to vape for the first time, reduce the voltage/power settings and gradually build up to your sweet spot. Many new vapours forget to do this and can be put off from vaping as first impressions are everything.
How to know when a coil needs changing
You will find over time the e-liquid flavour will diminish and the coil cotton will start to give off a burnt taste. Don’t make the mistake of changing a coil unnecessarily, check that your battery is fully charged as sometimes people can mistake this as the coil going when in fact your battery is just low on juice. After four or five days the flavour will go little each day and will not taste the same as a fresh coil, but its still in good condition. Coils typically should not need replacing for at least two to three weeks, depending on how often and heavily you vape as this could shorten the expected life of the coil.
How to find what replacement coils your vape kit needs
There are a number of ways to find your required coil. You can search our website for the starter kit or the tank. We endeavor to provide the coil details on the product pages so you know exactly what replacement coils you will need. You can also call our customer service team who will be able to help you.
How to change the coil and clean your tank.
It’s that time your in need of a fresh coil and a clean setup so that you can fall in love with the flavour all over again, or experience a completely new flavour.
This process is basic maintenance and quite simple to do, following these steps below and you should be up and running again in no time.
1. First off, make sure you have clean warm water filled up in the sink.
2. Separate the clearomizer tank from the battery and set the battery away from any water.
3. Completely disassemble the tank and remove the old coil to throw away. Don’t clean coils just dispose and replace with a new one, the cotton inside cannot be revived.
4. Wash tank components and use some cotton earbuds if really dirty.
5. Dry using some kitchen towels and set aside until completely dry.
6. Start assembling by screwing in your new replacement coil and putting the glass back and hardware top.
Battery and maintenance
When it comes to storing 18650 batteries or traveling with batteries that are not installed into the device. Always make sure the terminals such as plus or minus are not exposed to any other materials like keys or conducting metals, as this can cause a fire.
Always use a battery carry case or silicone sleeve to store your batteries fully charged or not.
If your vape device comes with separate batteries that have to be installed, and are not pre-built into the device then you will also require a separate charger if your kit does not have the pre-built in charging port. Personally, I would not recommend using the pre-built in ports and just use a separate charger so that you have plenty of batteries on rotation especially if you're a busy person always out and about.
Most starter kits have a pre-built in battery and charging port and ideal for the beginner and much safer. You can find plenty of starter kits on our website.
If you are just starting out I would suggest calling our customer service team for a more tailored solution.
